“I Am Donating A Kidney”

I like to see this blog as a blog about human bravery. Sometimes I share my struggles on how to transcend my own fears and insecurities, sometimes I try to transmit what I have learned along the way and sometimes I share my observations.

Quite recently I have encountered an astonishing example of what I see as supreme bravery and sacrifice. And I can’t seem to get my head around it.

13 Questions To Huub

Huub van Zwieten

During the first episode of the 100 Day Warrior I asked a handful of people from the creative industry to send me questions that they would like to be answered by the participants of the 100 Day Warrior. Out of approximately 30 questions I selected 12 that seem to cover most of the curiosity of most followers. Huub is the first of the 100 Day warrior II to answer them.

Bruising My Face And My Ego Simultaneously: 5 Lessons On Failure And Shame

At home I lie down with an ice pack on my head, contemplating what had happened. I feel humbled and humiliated by the big impact that just a bit of fear can have on the outcome of events. At a glance you could argue that only minor mistakes were made. We shot the video, even though I notified the gym a bit too late the resistance that came up was addressed politely, and I almost lifted a badass weight. But if you look deeper and when I become more honest with myself we can see that there are some deep-rooted patterns at work.

Rebirth I

The 100 Day Warrior II has come to an conclusion. The second group was tougher for me than the first group. There were quite a few challenging moments. Sometimes I have doubted my capabilities and I had concerns about our progress. But then the magic happened and everything feel into place. During our last ceremony there were no walls, no barriers and no fear. Everybody was connected, open and present. We entered the process as strangers, we came out as friends. Everybody had changed on the inside and on the outside. To ignite such a process and witness the outcome fills me with gratitude.

On Lovers And Leaders And The Importance Of Exploring The Unknown

Yesterday my eye fell on an interesting quote: “One key pattern associated with the development of a close relationship among peers is sustained, escalating, reciprocal, personal self-disclosure.” I don’t know who said it. It was a scientist who researched relationships. If I remember correctly the context was an experiment that was designed by a researcher […]

Does The Media Mess With Our Minds Too? I Am Afraid So.

Cristiano Ronaldo

In my mind a warrior is somebody with the athletic skills and the body of Cristiano Ronaldo with the wisdom, compassion and charisma of the Dalai Lama. That is a little bit on the unrealistic side. Of course it would be lovely if we would have people like that. But it is also an elitist view that reveals some of the insecurities of the guy who promotes it. Me.

11 Characteristics Of A Warrior

Last Sunday we had the so-called Internal Day. It is the 8th session of the 100 Day Warrior, exactly at the 50th day. We are halfway and we mark that moment with a day of intensive training. The idea is that the participants now understand the basics of meditation and have a steady practice. Also […]

Beating The ‘Cold Cap’ – A Story Of Pain Transformation

A couple of days ago I did one of the most intense and sensitive jobs I ever did. I was asked to help a young woman endure the pain of a ‘cold cap’ treatment. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in two years, which completely suck because it means the […]

Street Cred – My Meeting With Said Bensellam

That I met with Said Bensellam no coincidence. I read an article about him in the newspaper some time ago. The title was something like ‘Warrior for a good cause’. I tore it out and put it in my pocket. I forgot about it and found it again. I thought of throwing it away because who am I to think he would want to meet with me? But then a surge of courage went through me and I wrote him a short message on social media. And I received a very friendly and humble message back saying that he was inspired by my website and interested to learn about my work. Can you believe it?
